How often do I have to volunteer?
We want to be flexible with our volunteers but at the same time of course we need to ensure that we know that volunteers will be coming to the centre on a certain day and time. We devised four different ‘systems’ of volunteering so you should apply for the one which suits you best. If you can’t fit into any of these systems we’d still love to talk to you about your volunteering options.
Holidays only-once a week or more
Once a week-either weekday evening or weekend anytime
Once a fortnight- again weekday evening or weekend anytime
Bank- we can call you to volunteer when we have staffing problems
We hope that people will volunteer for as long as they can but a minimum of 3 hours per session is required to ensure that we get some consistency for the young people.
Giving and receiving at Minehead EYE, why should you volunteer?
Is it better to give or receive? We think both!
At the eye we want to make sure you feel rewarded for your work. Being part of the Minehead EYE Volunteering Team includes regular social events, training opportunities, great work experience, trips and prizes to local attractions etc, and an annual awards ceremony.
All volunteers will receive comprehensive training prior to and during volunteering as well as dedicated support and super-vision from staff members.
We can also offer mutually beneficial opportunities such as use of our rehearsal space or studio time, free skate time in the hall, exhibition space, even the opportunity to be part of an event.
Example: A local band use the rehearsal space and in return provide mentoring for a new group and run a band’s critique session.
We want to make sure that all our volunteers feel part of the family, part of the Minehead eye team.
If you have all the information you need then please fill in the online application form and send it back to us. We’ll invite you to come along for an informal chat about the options and complete a commitment pledge with you.
If you would like to talk to us more about your volunteering opportunities or ideas then please get in touch by e-mailing info@minehead-eye.net or call Naomi on 07866 730093
